[Home Page]In Um Qeis, the main sights are the ruins of the Roman City, with its Western Theater, colonnaded street, mausoleum and baths.
Um Qeis Museum in an Ottoman Building, contains artifacts, mosaics and statuary. Hours 8:00-5:00pm except Tuesday.
In Pella, there are many interesting archaeological sites, many of them still under excavation. Important are the West Church, 6th-Century Civic Complex Church, 1st-Century Odeon (Theater), Roman Nyphaeum and East Church.
Al-Hemma Roman baths, 10 km outside Um Qeis, are still in use today. Separate timetables for men and women.Irbid houses two important museums:
Archaeological Museum of the Department of Antiquities. Hours 8:00-2:00pm except Friday. Admission free.
Institute of Anthropology & Archaeology, Yarmouk University, Irbid. Open daily except Friday. Possibly the best archaeological museum in Jordan.
