The governorate of North Sinai lies on the Mediterranean Coast and is separated from South Sinai by the Taba line.

 Main cities.

Al-Arish, the capital, is famous for its beautiful shores and palm lined beaches. The most prominent of its beaches are Al-Nakhil where palm trees extend over the length of the beach; Al-Masa'id renowned for its beauty and tranquility, has numerous chalets and a camping site; Rumana near Al-Arish, on the border of Bir Al-Abd town, has a number of chalets and a camping site.

Rafah: the second city in the governorate, it is located on Egypt's international eastern border on the Mediterranean coast, abounding in trees. Al-Shiekh Zuweid located between Al-Arish and Rafah on the Mediterranean coast, it consists of chalets and a camping site. Bir Al-Abd an important city, located halfway between Qantara East and Al-Arish. Nakhil City built by Sultan Al-Ghouri in 1516 AD to safeguard the pilgrim route. Rumana located on the Mediterranean coast, it is characterized by its tranquility and scenery. Taba is situated on Egypt's international borders on the Aqaba Gulf. Gaziret Faraon (Pharaoh's Island) a coral island 8 km south of Taba in the middle of the northern tip of the Aqaba Gulf, it is noted for the fortress of Salah El-Din, the most important Islamic relic in Sinai. The island offers a panoramic view of the Sinai Mountains, the golden sands and the many inlets and coves.

Al-Tor, the governorate capital in the Gulf of Suez is characterized by an excellent all year round climate has an airport which accomodates small to medium sized aircraft and a port for medium sized ships.

St. Catherine 150 km southeast of Abu Rodeis, on a high plateau 25 m above sea level, a centre of religious tourism in Sinai dated to the 6th century, this town is famous for its orchard and plentiful waters. Its airport is equipped for small and medium sized aircraft

Monastary of St. Catherine was built in the 6th century dedicated to the daughter of who converted to Christianity and was subjected to great torture. It has huge walls with a number of small churches.

Gabal Serbal: an object of pilgrimage prior to the advent of religions.

Moses's Gabal: a mountain chain 2 km long.

Tomb of Nabi Saleh: lies at the junction of Wadi Mur and Wadi Sheikh.

The Temple of Sarabit Al-Khadim: lies on a small hilltop north of Al-Tor. It consists of several caves amongst Cave of the Goddess Hathor, built during the reign of King Snefru and the Cave of Sopdu, the God of Water.

The Mosque built in the Fatimid Age, stands between the main church within the walls of the monastery.

Hammam Fara'on: a group of hot sulfur springs with a temperature of 72 C at the source.

Chapel of Aaron: stands in the plain of Raha, Wadi Firan
